Snapshot of CORDE’s Programs

CORDE provides informal education to 186 rural communities across Cambodia. CORDE’s informal community education is centred on developing both English and Khmer literacy of children, mentoring junior youth in moral understanding and providing environmental, health and agricultural workshops for whole communities. CORDE’s informal education programs are supplementary to Cambodia’s public schooling.

CORDE provides its students the opportunity to go on and complete formal study at their University for Education and Development where they can continue learning in the areas of community development, education and human resource management.

To resource our community education programs with teachers, CORDE identifies, trains and develops parents and youth who are committed to instigating change in their own communities through education. Through CORDE’s education and the provision of a small allowance, CORDE students stay in their villages to form a core group of teachers dedicated to serving the needs of their communities. CORDE continue to replicate this model of sustainable eduction in more rural Cambodian communities as our resources and relationships with community members develop.
